I get asked quite often, "How do you do this?" Michelle a reader left a comment asking these questions and wanted to share my answers with everyone:
Do you clip coupons and save them?
Yes! Once I get the coupons I
FIRST, write the date on the front page of each coupon book, in case I ever need to refer back to it.
Second, I personally clip out the coupons I would use and the ones I would buy if it were a good deal.
Third, I DO NOT throw away ANY coupons until the expire. Since I personally don't cut them all out (mine filer won't hold much), I often refer back to my coupons because there is a sale worth getting, or in some cases becomes a money maker! (Normally I wouldn't cut out a Benifiber coupon but, I have gone back and cut it out because there was a deal where I made $2 for every 3 I bought).
Fourth, I organize them into my filers. I bought these last year at Target for $1 each. But you can pretty much find these anywhere!
The top one, the smaller one has 7 slots and this is how I organize them;
Paper towels and TP
Scents/ Fragrances
Laundry
Cleaners
Battiers/ Light Bulbs
Food
Office Supplies
The larger one has 13 slots,
Current deal coupons
Mouth/Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
Medicine
Face products and cleansers
Body Wash/Soap
Women needs/Tampons, Coupons, Lubricants
Lotions
Hair
Deodorant
Shaving Needs
Baby
Store Coupons
Again, this is my personal way of holding my coupons. This has been my system for a year now and it has worked out just fine. My filers are needing to be replaced due to the over load they carry. lol! I have considered going to the "binders" using base ball card slots, but we'll see when that days comes!
I use a lot of printable coupons, and to be honest, I think you can still get a LOT of great deals using just printable if you do not have the newspaper coupons.
Do you hold on to your coupons until they go on sale?
Not necessarily. If I need something then I purchase it! Otherwise I just wait for it to go on sale and then buy in large quantities. Now that I am at the point where I have a good stock on all my basic household needs (cleaners, laundry, face, body, hair, make-up, diapers, & etc) I can wait for things to go on sale. For example, the Shavers last week at Walgreens. I buy as many as I can using what coupons I have that way I will have a good stock! Of course the deal is only as good depending on how many coupons you have. I have found that 3 sets of newspaper coupons for each week can get you a good stock until the next sale comes around. However I have purchase some coupons on eBay to get an even better deal!
I hope this helps answers some of your coupons Questions!
